Beekman Town Hall

  The current Beekman Town Hall in Poughquag was constructed between 1941 and 1942 to serve the then-small, rural community. Before this dedicated building, civic gatherings likely took place in local taverns or other public spaces. Today, it remains the central hub for Beekman's local government and community activities, reflecting the town's growth and evolving needs.

  The Greater Hudson Valley Council of Scouting America serves thousands of youth across the region, including parts of Dutchess County like Beekman. Through its programs, local scouts engage in character development, leadership training, and community service. These efforts contribute significantly to the well-being and growth of young people in the Beekman area and the wider Hudson Valley. 

  In Beekman, the arrival of motor vehicles in the early 20th century gradually transitioned residents from horse-drawn transportation to automobiles. This shift necessitated improvements to the town's existing roads, which were initially designed for carriages and agricultural use. Today, automobiles are essential for Beekman residents to navigate the local and regional road networks, connecting them to services and larger communities.
